For a time companies have been using annual reviews and what managers think to manage performance. This is starting to change because artificial intelligence is being used more and more at work.

Artificial intelligence is now being used to look at data, watch progress, and give feedback quickly. This can make things more efficient. Help managers deal with problems faster. At the time it also makes people worry about privacy, fairness, and how employees feel about their jobs.

What Artificial Intelligence Is Being Used For

A lot of companies are using artificial intelligence to manage employee performance. By waiting until the end of the year, managers can now get updates more often and fix problems sooner.

Artificial intelligence can be used for the following:

  • Tracking goals and deadlines
  • Reviewing how productive people are
  • Finding out what training people need
  • Giving reminders or feedback
  • Helping managers make decisions

This allows companies to manage performance in a more organised way. Companies can use artificial intelligence to manage employee performance and make sure everything runs smoothly. Artificial intelligence is helping companies to manage people at work and make decisions about employee performance.

Benefits for Organisations

One benefit is regular feedback. Employees do better when they know how they are doing. They don't have to wait months for a review. AI tools make feedback more frequent and easier to give.

Another issue is that numbers don't always provide a complete picture. A person can help others solve problems or show leadership in ways that a computer program can’t quantify.

There is also the possibility of decisions if systems use weak or biased data. Organizations should be careful when relying heavily on technology.


Why we still need human managers

In my opinion, AI should be a support tool, not a replacement for managers. Employees still need conversation, encouragement, and personal feedback. Good managers understand situations data alone cannot explain.




A balanced approach should include:

  • data from AI systems
  • Honest manager feedback
  • Clear communication
  • Employee development support
  • Respect for well-being

This can create trust between staff and management.


Conclusion

Overall, AI is changing performance management. It makes it quicker, regular and more data-focused. It can help organisations improve productivity and identify areas for development.

However, privacy concerns, stress, and over-dependence on data are still issues. The best organisations will be those that use AI carefully. They will continue to value judgment and employee well-being.

    1. I do not think AI will completely replace HR managers. AI can support tasks such as screening CVs, analysing data, and handling routine administration, but HR managers are still needed for leadership, employee relations, conflict resolution, and important people decisions.
